Research profile

Following my postdoctoral research in chemistry, I spent three decades in industry across R&D at BASF, strategy consulting at Kearney, and executive roles at GEA. My work at GEA focused on corporate development, intellectual property, innovation management, and technology foresight. In addition, I served as Managing Director of several GEA subsidiaries and helped building GEA’s biotechnology activities in the emerging field of New Food.

I am interested in how computational methods like artificial intelligence are transforming the knowledge generation and practice of science. I am especially interested in the biosciences, where high system complexity meets comparatively well-characterized underlying principles. Thus, AI and quantitative modeling should have a comprehensive impact on computer-driven discovery here.

In my role as Scientific Coordinator at IQCB, I contribute to bridging the life sciences with neighboring disciplines and computer science, ultimately driving a more predictive, systems-oriented approach to medicine.
